Bags bags bags

I have become a self proclaimed "bag whore." I have multiple purses. Too many. For the longest time, I wouldn't even carry one. I would stuff my ID in my back pocket, clip my keys to my belt, and that was that. Then, something clicked about 5 years ago. I needed a purse. It started innocently enough with a green Nine West bag that I got on sale at Macy's. But then I had to upgrade to Coach. Ack. I realized I love leather bags. I started getting a new bag every couple of months. I also love to buy interesting bags when I'm on vacation. I've tried to put the brakes on my bag addiction. But guess what? When you can sew your own, the bag possibilities are endless. I found this pattern and it turned out okay on my first try:

When I redo it, I need to expand the pattern, because this bag is too small to really be useful for me. I also need to swap out the snap closure for a zipper, so I need to figure that process out. I don't like the way the handle is inserted, so I will modify the process of sewing in the lining to suit my need to hide the handle. This sample took me about an hour, and it's definitely sloppy, because I was rushing. All in all, it's not too bad a job.

  1. It's so cute.
I was never really a *small* bag person though. Even before the child, I always like big bags.
